CoMiDe has researched the status quo on Migration & Development in Austria, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia and European good practice examples of migration and development initiatives with a particular focus on diaspora engagement:
The Working Group Migration and Development in the Global Responsibility – Platform for Development and Humanitarian Aid in Austria developed a Position Paper on Migration and Development at the end of 2013.The document has two parts. First, the introduction looks at the fundamental issues and structural framework in the field of migration and development. Then concrete recommendations for important policy areas in migration and development are given.
The CoMiDe Manifesto provides actions points on two priority themes: 1) Diaspora Engagement and 2) Diaspora Entrepreneurship. It was adopted by all participants and involved stakeholders at the CoMiDe Conference “Developing developers: Migrants as development actors – A new way forward” in Ljubljana on the 6th of December 2013.
CoMiDe has organized several events on international and national level. In particular the kick off conference „Bridging the Gap: International Conference on Migration & Development” (January 2012), the Forum “Migration & Development” (March 2013) and the Final conference “Developing developers: Migrants as development actors” (December 2013).
