BAT - Mongolian Bactrian Society

Description

The Mongol Bactrian society is non-governmental, non profit organization, was established in 2008 with a mission to raise levels of camel herders living standards, to improve camel husbandry management, and to better the condition of rural populations. During the years, the Society  has conducted a number of research and market studies, training, and consultancy at the Mongolian University Science and Technology, country, sectoral, and organisational levels.

Main activities. MBS collects, analyses, interprets and disseminates information relating to food and agriculture  branches. The main  activity field is  the camel husbandry.  The organization serves as a information center, providing camel herders, producers, scientists and  non governmental organizations with the information they need to make rational decisions on planning, investment, marketing, research and training.  Also, MBS gives practical help to camel herders, veterinarian, zootechnicians,  producers, traders and consumers. We use the expertise of our staff and consultant: livestock specialists, industry engineers,  nutritionists and economists. In 2009, MBS worked out the National Programme of Camel  husbandry Development with the Ministry of Industry and Agriculture officials.

International Association for Bactrian Science was established in 19 November of 2011. The managing center is the Mongol Bactrian Society of Mongolia. At the first session the board members are elected and goal and tasks of Association were determined.  The members IABS / Mongolia. China. Russia and Kazakhstan/ have discussed the activity plan of 2012.
